What is Rovio?
Rovio is a WiFi-enabled mobile webcam that allows you see, hear, and speak from anywhere in the world... as if you were right there in the room. Learn about its features here.
What are Rovio's dimensions?
Rovio is approximately 11-inches (28 cm) long x 10-inches (25 cm) wide, and about 10 inches (~25 cm) tall when its neck is raised (around 4.5-inches (~11.5 cm) tall when fully closed). Find out all about Rovio's tech specs here.
Is Rovio a toy?
Rovio is fun to drive but it isn't a toy. Rovio is a sophisticated mobile webcam that makes telepresence a reality. It can be used to monitor your house, your pets, your family, or your office.
Can I navigate Rovio from my iPhone or iTouch?
Yes. You will need a compatible mobile web browser like Safari Mobile, IE Mobile, or Opera Mobile.
There is also a third-party app available as a free download at Apple's iTunes store. It's called Rovio Driver by Bertrand Leroy.
Can Rovio climb stairs?
Nope. Rovio has remarkable versatility but it isn't a climber.
Can I use Rovio outdoors?
We don't recommend it. Dirt and moisture may hamper Rovio's performance.

What kind of computer or device do I need to use Rovio?

Do I need a wireless router to use Rovio?
No, Rovio can be used directly from your WiFi-enabled computer. To use Rovio remotely, however, a wireless router is necessary; this will require some familiarity with Wi-Fi technology to set up.
Which network security standard does Rovio use?
Rovio currently uses the WPA network security standard.
Do I need to download any special software to operate Rovio?
For PC users, Rovio comes with an easy-to-use setup CD (or, even better, download the latest version here). Rovio itself, however, does not require any special software to drive it; all that is necessary is a current web browser.
What is Rovio's range?
Rovio can travel as far as your computer or your router's Wi-Fi signal (which can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer). Self-navigation depends on the placement of TrueTrackTM Room Beacons. Room Beacons can be purchased separately to extend Rovio's perimeter and to record more distant paths.
